Following a highly successful two year stint on Darlinghurst’s Riley Street, Caf Paci as we know it is calling it a day.

The pop-up restaurant received rave reviews and awards during its two year tenure with founder Pasi Petanen taking out the Citi Chef of the Year award in the 2016 Good Food Guide, and the Innovation Award in the 2015 Good Food Guide. The restaurant also earned one Chefs Hat at the 2015 Awards and two Chefs Hats in the 2016 guide.

Speaking with Good Food, Petanen said that he could have stayed on at the Riley Street venue, but decided that a smaller venue is what he's after.

“…It’s too big for us,” Petanen told Good Food. “I want to find something with about 50 seats.”

Petanen says that he hopes to have the new location up and running by Spring next year but is still debating the exact concept of the new digs, adding that he may open a bakery, restaurant or both.

“We might do one or the other [bakery or restaurant] or both together,” he says.

“…Sydney has so much sourdough, it’s time for rye.”

The Caf Paci’s last service will he held on 23 December.
