On 16 September the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) will be bringing the latest food trends from the country to Sydney for the annual Japanese Food Showcase.
The free, trade-only event, to be held at Sofitel Sydney, will feature 20 producers and suppliers with products including seafood products, special pastes, miso powders, sauces and premium A5 wagyu available for tasting and buying.
High-profile Australian chef’s known for their commitment to Japanese cuisine and ingredients will host demonstrations, educating visitors about how traditional Japanese food products and techniques are now being integrated into progressive kitchens and cuisines.
Nic Wong (former head chef, Cho Cho San), will dish up a curry parmesan Don with A5 Wagyu; Hiroshi Manaka (sous chef, LuMi Bar & Dining) will create a yuzu snow and dulce de leche dessert, and Nick Smith (co-founder and executive chef, Rising Sun Workshop) will serve a miso cone with wallaby yuzu tartare and an oyster cream.
Wakayma prefecture will also be in attendance, presenting an assortment of local food and drink in their own food showcase, with Japanese plum wine (ume-shu), persimmons, vinegars, seasonings and more.
This event will run from 12pm to 4pm on 16 September 2019. Registration is required.
