Sydney restaurant Ormeggio at The Spit has unveiled a new culinary direction and look.

The 11-year-old venue, run by Alessandro and Anna Pavoni, is now offering diners a more casual experience inspired by the team’s travels around Italy and the Mediterranean.

“We feel like the time is right to do something new and different with our venue and team,” says Alessandro. “We’ve been here 11 years now and the whole team is feeling really positive and motivated to launch the much more casual ‘Ormeggio 2.0’.”

Gianmarco Pardini has been appointed head chef with Rachele Perini taking over as restaurant manager.

“Gianmarco is an excellent chef, Rachele has the most beautiful service skills, but more than that, this is the moment for these young and passionate leaders to step into a new role in the limelight here at Ormeggio,” says Alessandro.

The menu has done away with red meat and instead revolves around seafood and vegetarian options. There’s also a revolving sharing menu with dishes selected by the kitchen team.

Dishes include tuna cotoletta, crudo crostini and the return of the Pavoni risotto.

Ormeggio’s dessert offering has also changed, and is now all about coppa gelato, which is put together at the restaurant’s bar.

The restaurant is open for dinner from Thursday to Sunday, lunch on Saturday and all-day dining on Sunday.
