Port Stephens-based Murray’s Craft Brewing Co. has launched Appleshack Cider, its first cider in the bottle.

The cider is light bodied, crisp with a dry Riesling-like character, and moderately sweet with an ABV of 4.8%.

Over summer, Murray’s has been working on incorporating fruits into its beers, including the development of a watermelon wheat beer as well as a number of Berliner Weisse beers which include mango, raspberry, passionfruit and Anna Bay tomatoes.

Brewery owner, Murray Howe, said its first draught apple cider was created as part of this summer series, and has been incredibly popular.

“I love beer and brewing beer, and I’ve never brewed cider until recently. The brewing process for beer and cider is completely different and we’ve learned a lot – including that cider is a lot easier to brew. Visitors to the brewery from all around the world have been telling us how much they enjoy the fresh taste of AppleShack,” said head brewer, Graeme Mahy.
