The Court of Master Sommeliers Australia has announced the results of its Introductory and Certified Examinations held in Sydney this week.
In the 2018 exams, 27 students achieved the title of Introductory Sommelier and 19 students achieved the title of Certified Sommelier, while the 2018 Sydney Riedel Certified Sommelier Dux was awarded to Salvatore Persico from Rockpool Dining Group (pictured).
The Sydney program welcomed students from throughout Australia, as well as China, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.
“This year the students were tutored by six Master Sommeliers originating from Australia, New Zealand, France, Romania and the United States,” says Franck Moreau MS.
“This breadth of global experience and outlook really enriches the learning experience for the students. It demonstrates that certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers offers a highly prestigious and globally recognised qualification.”
The Court of Master Sommeliers was established in 1977 to promote excellence in hotel and restaurant beverage services. The program guides aspiring Masters through four levels of coursework and examination, culminating in the Master Sommelier Diploma Examination.
Worldwide there are currently just 249 Sommeliers who have gained the highly-coveted title of Master Sommelier.
