The Sydney group behind Sweet Belem, Bibo and Fich has opened the doors to all-day Portuguese diner Lunas in Petersham.
Silva Group Owners Jose and Basia Silva have appointed fellow Bennelong alum Jacqueline Ektoros as head chef, who joins after time at Three Williams cafe in Redfern.
βWe love Petersham and this is a suburb that is central to the identity of Portuguese people and food in Sydney,β says Jose.
βAt Lunas, contemporary Portuguese-inspired breakfast and modern Portuguese lunch is the showcase. The flavours are familiar, but it is most importantly Portuguese, new and exciting.β
The Lunas menu encompasses brunch and lunch dishes designed for sharing.

Diners can order a riff on Sweet Belem’s iconic pastel de natas in the form of a hotcake along with avocado, almonds, vegan feta, romesco and coriander on toast and a staple big breakfast.
Lunch dishes cover octopus with rice, tomato, capsicum and coriander; sardines on toast and a market fish of the day paired with black-eyed beans, quail egg, carrot, celery, capsicum and parsley.
Portuguese chicken features on the menu in the form of a sandwich teamed with piri piri sauce, cabbage slaw, lettuce tomato, pickled onion and mayo.
There’s also spatchcock with piri piri, bay leaf, garlic and herbs.
Lunas is open Wednesday to Sunday from 7am until 3pm, with dinner service to commence shortly.
