Sydney’s Inner West is home to a new local that showcases Middle Eastern flavours.
Owner and entrepreneur Suz Gursahaney is behind the Soul Tree Cafe, which is located within the Flour Mill in Summer Hill.
Gursahaney called on former Fat Duck chef Tomislav Martinovic to head up the kitchen and design the menu, which covers breakfast and lunch options.
Dishes include everything from baked eggs with braised chickpeas, tomato and oregano harissa paste and sheep’s milk labneh to a breakfast plate with falafel, avocado, tatashe chilli relish and rye caraway and a spin on French toast with Golden Gaytime ice cream.
The cafe is serving up a blended coffee (Soul Tree Blend) by Kaffeina which sees beans from Brazil, Costa Rica, Papua New Guinea and Kenya combined together.
“We wanted to create a café with an amazing food and beverage offering that is focused on the community,” says Gursahaney.
“Our goal is to become the epicentre of Summer Hill and be affectionately known as ‘the local’.”
Soul Tree Cafe is open from Monday to Sunday from 7am until 3pm.
