Sydney’s The Rocks is welcoming Lebanese-Mexican pop-up Libano Mexicano on 1 October.

The eatery will be part of the Playfair Takeover which includes a raft of pop-ups such as Neighbourhood Delicatessen, recently launched by Sydney Fine Store on 23 September.

Behind the venture is Shirin Topaloglu (Milpa Collective, Jamie’s Italian Australia) and Fransisca Setiawan (Milpa Collective) who will create a fusion of both Lebanese and Mexican cuisine.

Dishes include pitacos or Lebanese tacos which are made from pizza flatbread and can come in a variety of fillings, lamb shish kebab skewers with habanero salsa and churros with chocolate hummus dip.

Diners also have the option to pair food with spicy margaritas rimmed with Tajin salt.

Libano Mexicano will be open Mondays to Sundays from 11:30am to 10:00pm for lunch and dinner.

Neighbourhood Delicatessen is now open to patrons, with freshly-baked pastries, bread and deli goods on offer during the day, as well as charcuterie boards, wines and mini martinis at night.

The café and bar is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am until 6pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

The Playfair Takeover also includes temporary pop-ups Taqueria Zepeda, Small. Good. and Fishbowl.
