HP Inc. has unveiled a new all-in-one point-of-sale (POS) system, the HP ElitePOS. With security, durability, and flexibility built into its design, the HP ElitePOS system is made to meet the demands of 21st century hospitality businesses.
The system is designed to adapt to any hospitality or retail environment, with a range of versatile accessories allowing businesses to build the ideal solution for their venue. From transaction finalisation through to interactive signage or self-service, the modular ElitePOS is completely customisable.
Components and accessories that complement the HP ElitePOS aesthetic, include stands, magnetic stripe reader, barcode scanner, customer-facing displays, and an in-column or standalone receipt printer (all sold separately), with a consistent design across peripherals.
For venue operators who want a clean and clutter-free counter space, or who need greater versatility in the placement of their point-of-sale terminal, the display can be separated from the input/output (I/O) base for maximum placement versatility.
A modern 14 inch diagonal touchscreen display offers customers and employees an intuitive and responsive device, with fast interaction and anti-glare coating.
Designed to pass MIL-STD tests, deter minor spills by channelling liquid out of the device, and provide efficient cooling with side venting for improved reliability, the ElitePOS is also built to be durable. The system has a 5-year lifecycle and up to a 3-year standard limited warranty, with optional HP Care services for up to five years.
Bringing the digital and physical worlds together, the ElitePOS allows businesses to deliver engaging, adaptable content and applications across devices and displays with the seamlessness of Windows 10Pro or Windows 10loT. Line-busting will be a breeze with Windows 10, fast DDR4 memory, and 7th generation Intel® Core™ processors with vPro™ technology.
The HP ElitePOS is ready for duty, efficient M.2 storage, fast DDR4 memory, and optional wireless LAN with Bluetooth®. An integrated SD card reader supports easy backup, deployment, and servicing.
With point-of-sale devices increasingly targeted by hackers, security also continues to be top of mind for the hospitality industry as customers become increasingly concerned about the vulnerability of personal data stored through loyalty systems. According to Verizon, 64 percent of breaches in the retail industry that contained data loss were caused by point-of-sale intrusions. HP is expanding its security solutions to the ElitePOS, with both hardware and integrated software security features, including:
- BIOS-level device security to provide protection in the event of a malware attack with HP Sure Start Gen3, the industry’s first self-healing BIOS, and HP BIOSphere Gen3, the industry-leading firmware ecosystems.
- User authentication technology, including an optional fingerprint reader for secure login; Credential Guard for secure user authentication and password protection, and Device Guard, which lets IT managers create rules to run only signed, trusted, and approved applications on the POS system to help protect against walk-up and low-level attacks through USB ports.
- Physical security of the device itself with an optional bolt-to-counter configuration, VESA mounting K-Lock features and external fingerprint reader for secure login through Windows Hello (all sold separately).
The ElitePOS will be available in September 2017 direct from HP and the company’s global network of more than 250,000 partners. For more details, including terms and conditions, click here.
