A man was about to tuck into a chicken burrito bowl from Mexican chain Guzman y Gomez before he allegedly pulled a slug out of his meal.

Adrian Day purchased the bowl from Guzman y Gomez Newtown and returned to the outlet to notify the manager immediately.

“Both the store manager and area manager have spoken to me and said they’re conducting a full audit to work out what happened and make sure it doesn’t reoccur,” Day posted on Facebook group Newtown 2042.

“We all agree that it probably had something to do with the recent rain and sudden warmth.”

Consuming slugs can have severe health impacts including paralysis and brain damage if they’re infected with rat lung worm disease.

A spokesperson for Guzman y Gomez has commented on the situation and confirmed they are looking into the matter.

“An allegation that a foreign object has been found in our food is highly concerning,” a spokesperson told media.

“We are treating this with utmost seriousness and will be conducting a thorough investigation.”
