The Grand Pacific Group have opened the doors to The Marion restaurant on Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.

Located inside the Marion precinct, the 180-seat restaurant is the second venue to open following Walter’s Café.

Guests can experience a one-of-kind high tea experience whilst they enjoy scenic views of the city’s landmark lake.

“We are thrilled to be opening High Tea at The Marion. High Tea in iconic locations is what we do best,” says Co-owner Manny Spinola.

“Located alongside the National Canberra Exhibition, we hope to help drive tourism to Canberra by offering customers the unique experience of enjoying High Tea, overlooking Lake Burley Griffin.”

The restaurant is currently open for high tea but is also set to launch its à la carte lunch menu and outdoor deck later in the year.

Leading the kitchen is award-winning patissier and Executive Head Chef Rob Crichton.

Diners can order a selection of petits fours, finger sandwiches, scones and sweet and savoury pastries served with house-made preserves and clotted cream.

The food can be paired with a special selection of specialty Ronnefeldt teas, Champagne, sparkling wine or cocktails.

The opening coincides with the city’s biggest spring festival Floriade with both The Marion and Walter’s Café located at the entrance of the event.

The Marion restaurant is open from 10am until 4pm seven days a week.
