Andrew McConnell’s Melbourne restaurant Supernormal is gearing up to launch a 13-day pop-up bar this April.

Bar Paradox is located underneath the restaurant and will be spearheaded by acclaimed bartender and Loro Founder Orlando Marzo, who is behind the five-cocktail list.

“I’m super excited to be able to work in a culinary environment so much a part of Melbourne and use my knowledge to complement the Supernormal experience,” says the 2018 World Class Bartender of the Year.

“The list will be a concise offering of five cocktails, each one meticulously crafted and served with precision to suit even the most discerning of drinkers.”

Cocktails include the Paradox Bramble which combines Tanqueray Royale blackcurrant gin with native strawberry gum and makrut and an Olive Martini, which sees gin and vermouth teamed with cold vacuum-distilled extra-virgin olive oil.

A Bergamot Negroni, Cherry and Cacao Manhattan and Coffee Cocktail with tonka bean, orange, vanilla and cold brew round out the offering.

Supernormal’s kitchen team has created a short and snappy snack menu to complement Orzo’s drinks.

Guests can choose from a prawn roll with bonito mayo and Tasmanian wasabi; silken tofu and sesame cracker with avocado; Sapphire Coast raw fish or spiced peanuts with laver to enjoy with their drinks.

Bar Paradox will operate from 11-24 April (except Easter Monday) from 5pm until late.
