Several venues in Brisbane have closed temporarily for deep cleaning after positive cases of COVID-19 dined at the locations.
The Queensland Department of Health issued a public health alert after two 19-year-old Brisbane women visited several venues while infectious. It’s believed the women contracted the virus in Melbourne. A close contact has since tested positive.
Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said all affected locations had taken appropriate action.
“Contact tracing is underway on all new cases,” Dr Young said. “While we are still determining where the virus may have been acquired, we are working closely with these women to gather necessary information, including other places they may have visited whilst infectious.”
Korean barbecue restaurant Madtongsan has shuttered until further notice according to a post on Instagram.

A statement on Peak Thai Springfield Central’s website informs customers that contact tracing identified the venue as a location visited by the cases. The venue has closed for deep cleaning, while staff who worked on the day are undertaking mandatory self-isolation for 14 days. The operators have handed over the guest’s registration forms to the health department. “…Rest assured we are taking this very seriously and will follow government procedure and precautions to protect our customers and the public,” the statement reads.
Cowch Dessert Bar in Southbank has outlined the steps it has taken on advice from the Department of Health, including “full and extensive hospital-strength fog sanitisation of all venues by a professionally accredited cleaning and sanitation company.”
According to a post on brand’s Instagram page, the location has been cleared to open safely.

P’Nut Street Noodles in Southbank has closed for cleaning and staff members working on the day have self-isolated.

Any individuals who attended the venues during the relevant times are asked to immediately self-quarantine and contact 13 HEALTH.

The temporary closures come after similar incidents at venues in Sydney this month.
