Restaurateur and chef Jonathan Barthelmess has revealed new details about his venue at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves.

Barthelmess, who also runs The Apollo, Cho Cho San and Greca, announced the launch of an izakaya concept in May and confirmed it will open under the name of Yoko Dining.

Chef Kitak Lee, who previously worked at Cho Cho San, Kisume and Momofuku Seiobo, will run the kitchen and has designed a menu that revolves around the hibachi.

Confirmed menu items include gyoza, tempura, noodles and salads as well as a focus on local fish, Wagyu and roasted duck. Sweet waffles, kakigori and mochi will also make an appearance.

Yoko will offer a wine list comprising more than 100 wines alongside yuzu slushies and cocktails.

The venue is split across two levels and is set to open its doors in November.
