The world’s top bartenders are gearing up to headline the World Class Cocktail Festival next month.

The Sydney event will run from 9-18 September and see venues including Quay, Bennelong and Shell House team up with bar talents to host a range of events across the city.

Acclaimed bartender and ‘master of the martini’ Ago Perrone from The Connaught in London will design cocktails to complement a menu by Executive Chef Peter Gilmore at Bennelong.

Mr Lyan (Ryan Chetiyawardana) will host a whisky lounge at Quay, transforming the Green Room into a space serving up Johnnie Walker Blue label cocktails as well as a snacks menu from Gilmore.

Monica Berg from Tayer + Elementary in London is set to bring her signature drinks to Shell House’s Clocktower Bar, with Cantina OK! taking their margaritas to the streets at Hickson Road Reserve.

The Don Julio Food Truck Fiesta will see plenty of margs teamed with food by Beatbox Kitchen, Rico’s Tacos and Taco Truck Dos.

The celebrations will also include the global final of the World Class cocktail competition, which is taking place in Sydney for the first time.

“It is going to be a fantastic showcase of Australia’s incredibly unique food and drink scene on the global stage, supported by the attendance of over 300 international guests from over 50 countries including many global industry legends,” says Jonathan Morgan, World Class, Diageo Australia.

“We believe it is another important moment of support for the hospitality industry and it will be incredible to see Sydney’s city full of life with its impressive cocktail culture booming.”

Nick Tesar from Melbourne’s Bar Liberty will represent the country against over 50 bartenders on 15 September.
