Women in Hospitality (WOHO) is set to launch the second round of its Mentor Program at a virtual event on 13 August.

The New South Wales and Queensland based not-for-profit, first launched the program in February 2020 this year. Current mentors and mentees from the first found will share their experiences so far at the launch of round two.

The six-month program sees mentees paired up with a relevant mentor inspiring them to think big and to gain invaluable hands on experience from the industry’s best.

Welcomed by WOHO Directors Lisa Hobbs & Claire Van Vuuren, the event brings together professionals at every level from front to back of house, as well as those in administrative roles. Applications for both mentors and mentees are open, and all are encouraged to apply.

“Mentoring merges the personal with the professional — you get to celebrate a person in their entirety,” says Hobbs. “It encapsulates training, motivation, advice, success, direction, coaching, support & goals all in one. It is highly rewarding — you see people develop and grow.”

WOHO was founded by Julia Campbell in 2016 as a way to champion women in the industry and help them to explore ideas, share information and provide access to education and mentoring initiatives. Some of the particapting mentors include celebrated chef John McFadden, CEO of Lotus Dining Group Mindy Woods and WOHO Director, chef, sommelier and owner Lisa Margan of Margan Wines.

For attendees in the Sydney and Brisbane metro areas, tickets to the virtual launch are $25 and include a celebration pack that will be delivered in advance of the event, for guests to enjoy together online.
