A number of exciting new eateries are set to open at Sydney Airport including one by Austrian-born American celebrity chef and restaurateur, Wolfgang Puck.
Puck will be opening The Bistro by Wolfgang Puck within the Airport’s new premium dining precinct City View which is located in the T1 International Departures terminal beyond customs.
Slated to open in mid 2016, the venue represents the latest concept by the Wolfgang Puck collective: a relaxed Italian trattoria-style dining experience, serving modern Italian fare including pasta and wood-fired pizza.
“I am delighted to partner with Sydney Airport and launch The Bistro in T1,” says Puck. “I hope passengers travelling internationally are just as excited as we are about this new and unique offering.”
In total, five new venues will come together to form the City View precinct including a new concept by Shannon Bennett named Benny Burger; first to Australia concept Joe & The Juice, a bespoke Heineken House by Heineken; and Mike McEnearney’s popular local eatery Kitchen by Mike.
Bennett says that he created the Benny Burger concept especially for Sydney Airport’s T1. Best known for running Melbourne fine-diner Vue de Monde, Bennett says that the new venue will showcase a range of deluxe burgers using organic and wild-soured ingredients.
“At Benny Burger, every aspect of our operation has a tale to tell: our organic produce, sustainable practices, uniforms and packaging, even the materials used to construct the store,” says Bennet who named the casual restaurant after his father.
“…The ideas behind Benny Burger embrace the Australian way of life; a love of good times, grabbing a bite, sharing a few laughs, and knowing you are supporting sustainable practices and local producers. Benny Burger is all about feeling good.”
Three of the five new food and beverage brands, The Bistro by Wolfgang Puck, Heineken House and Kitchen by Mike, have been designed by award-winning Australian architect, Mike McCann of Dreamtime Australia Design, whose portfolio includes the design of Sydney’s Mr Wong, Felix and Grain at The Four Seasons.
“We are thrilled to announce this compelling line-up of local and international food brands at T1 as the transformation of our food and dining offering continues,” says Sydney Airport general manager retail, Glyn Williams. “The City View precinct heralds a new era for dining at Sydney Airport and will offer passengers a selection of exciting and fresh concepts that range from premium dine-in to more casual fare.”
