It’s that time of year again! Shoes will be polished, suits pressed and fascinators will be making their way out of cold storage for one of the foodservice industry’s most profitable days, the annual Melbourne Cup.

With fierce competition to get punters through the doors, restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs around Sydney have stepped up their event offerings this year. Everything from degustation lunches, banquets, decadent three course meals and personal waiter service, to more relaxed pub and bar offerings are ready to be booked.

Never one to disappoint when it comes to throwing a good party, Sydney hospitality group Merivale has a suite of options to choose from this year.

ivy is offering a variety of events at its numerous venues including a pool side affair at the newly refurbished Pool Club; a four course Italian feast complete with a flute of Veuve Clicquot Ros Vintage at Uccello; and personal waiter service at The Den’s with the ivy’s VIP booth packages.

Mr Wong will also be serving up a ten-dish shared banquet created by chef Dan Hong, and the group’s two seaside venues, Papi Chulo and Coogee Pavilion will also be hosting events filled with bubbly and their signature dishes.

The Apple Jack Hospitality Group will also be getting in on the action with a glass of G.H.Mumm Champagne on arrival at each of their venues across Sydney.

The Butler Potts Point will be offering a four course banquet complete with a shared charcuterie board and canaps, choice of main and petit fours for dessert. SoCal Neutral Bay will offer a more laid back, Californian surf vibe comprising a four-course Mexican feast with churros for dessert.

Matt Moran’s MorSul Group comprising ARIA Sydney, Chiswick and North Bondi Fish amongst others will be offering a host of different events. Channel 7 presenter Melissa Doyle will be hosting festivities at ARIA which will include best dressed prizes and sweeps throughout the day. Matt Moran together with head chef Chris Turner have designed a three course menu for the event which includes a glass of Piper-Heidsieck on arrival.

Lifestyle and fashion commentator, Melissa Hoyer will leading the celebrations at Chiswick which includes a three course shared menu a glass of Piper-Heidsieck on arrival.

Sydney new comer Nel Restaurant will also be getting on board the race train with a 5-course degustation menu complete with a glass of Louis Roederer on arrival. Hosted by head chef Nelly Robinson, Nel will have live screens featuring all the action, sweeps and prizes a-plenty.

Alpha Restaurant is offering a feast fit for a Greek god with four courses and glass of NV Duval Champagne on arrival, and just down the road Lotus, The Galeries will be serving up their signature dumplings via their Cup Banquet. Lotus, The Galeries will also offer live coverage, prizes and sweepstakes.

The Urban Purveyor Group will be offering a host of events across its venues. The Argyle will feature two and three hours drinks and canap packages; The Cut Bar & Grill will offer a four-course menu complete with a glass of Veuve Clicquot; Sake The Rocks will have an elegant ten course menu together with a glass of Veuve Clicquot and the Bavarian Bier Caf will offer a four-course Hops & Horses menu complete with a glass of bubbles.

Award winning Italian Popolo will also be getting in on the festivities with a five course lunch complete with sparkling on arrival, large TV screens, sweeps and prizes.
