New Italian venue Vizio Caffe e Cucina has opened in Woolloomooloo. Taking its name from the Italian word for ‘vice’, Vizio will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Inspired by Italian flavours, the menu has a distinctly Australian bent, with smoked emu tartare with parmesan crisps, pepperberry and vincotto on offer for dinner, alongside dishes such as oxtail alla vaccinara; gnocchi rosolati with pumpkin, burnt butter and amaretti; and brasato d’agnello with broccoli, crushed potato and leek ash.

Also featuring on the dinner menu is a range of fromaggi and salumi, with more than 30 cheeses and 30 cured meats from Australia and around the world available to be purchased in 50g portions for customisable antipasto boards.

For lunch, diners can choose from a selection of house-made pasta including tagliolino carbonara with guanciale, black pepper, egg and pecorino; penne tricolore with tomato, stracciatelli and basil; and gnocchi al ragu. Beyond pasta, there is a beef burger, a croquet madame and fish of the day.

Breakfast options range from an acai bowl to wholemeal spelt pancakes with poached pear, sweetened fresh ricotta, walnuts, maple syrup and chocolate crumb. Savoury dishes include the crab benedict; avocado toast with heirloom cherry tomato, goats curd, basil, pickled radishes, seeds; and the earthy green bowl with asparagus, baby spinach, baby peas, broccolini, green beans, red quinoa, dehydrated kale, crushed almonds, poached egg and ginger.

Vizio Caffe e Cucina features industrial interiors with aged wood, black-framed mirrors and ceiling with shades of cream and beige, softened by greenery and plants hanging from the ceiling. Bar-style seating, booth spaces and large banquet leather seating cater to small and large groups.
