A new pub has opened its doors in Melbourne’s Collingwood, taking its cues from the 70s.

Chris Wright and Jonathan Reisacher are the faces behind Gum, which the pair describe as a cross between a bar and a pub.

“We’re trying to make the place feel like a mix between a wine bar and a pub, but all the while being somewhere people can party into the night,” says Wright.

The food spread is everything you’d expect from an old-school pub.

Pie Thief is supplying the venue with a selection of savoury pies including vegan Bolognese, steak and a riff on the Big Mac.

A pork and fennel sausage roll is also on offer plus the iconic vanilla slice (snot block).

On the beverage front, there’s a range of cocktails available including a banana cream daiquiri, a Mai Tai and cocktail jugs.

The wine list is a combination of local and international drops and beers are available by the can, with brews from Melbourne Bitter, Mountain Goat, Stomping Ground, Balter and more.

Bianca Sciuto has decked out the tiny but mighty venue, which also features a beer garden.

Gum is open Wednesday to Sunday; bookings are now open.
