Seven teams from different venues across Australia and New Zealand are set to compete in The Plantation Rum Cup on 5 September 2022 at Grain in Sydney’s CBD.

All groups will compete for the first-ever Plantation Rum Cup trophy and a trip to Barbados to visit the West Indies Rum Distillery.

The finalists were selected from more than 90 entries, which were open to everyone in the hospitality sector including bartenders, chefs, bar backs and hosts.

Entrants will be asked to submit a creative rum-based cocktail using the Plantation brand for the upcoming competition.

The chosen teams competing are:

18th Amendment in Geelong with its Breakfast with Pierre cocktail, created by Owner Gorge Camorra and Bartender Tim Arnott, which uses Plantation Original Dark and Plantation Barbados Rums.

General Manager Adam Wood and Manager Lakhdeep Singh from Mr Brightside Rooftop Bar in Christchurch New Zealand with their Dreadlock Holiday cocktail consisting of Plantation Original Dark, Plantation Stiggin’s Fancy Pineapple and Plantation 3 Stars White Rums.

Venue Owner Jarred Coleman, Bar Manager Kieran Pitt and Venue Manager Dario Dragotta from Pineapple on Parnell in Auckland, New Zealand will showcase a cocktail with Plantation Stiggin’s Fancy Pineapple and Plantation Barbados Rums.

Santé Cocktail Bar in Toowoomba will be presenting its sazerac take Bonbonnet created by Owner and Bartender Loic Mouchelin and Floor Manager Alexandra.

Bar Director Andrea Marseglia and Bartender Jash Loman will represent Teresa Cocktail Bar in Napier New Zealand with their drink The Boccioni’s Punch which features Fancy Pineapple Rum and yuzu vinegar.

A trio consisting of Bar Manager Kiren Vythilingam and Bartenders Kara Bailey and Teegan Duke from The Howling Owl in Adelaide will present their reinvention of a pina colada.

Famed Sydney rum bar The Lobo have also entered the competition with its XOXO cocktail made by Bartenders Samuel Hannan and Connor Barkley and Floor Host Josh Freeman.

All cocktails will be judged based on taste appearance and presentation.
