The 2016 National Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Australia (R&CA) Awards for Excellence winners were announced at the national gala dinner at Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour on 24 October.

For the first time this year, a gold award was presented to the highest score of each category and in some categories a silver and/or bronze were also awarded.

The winners of the major award categories include:

Restaurant of the Year – Quay, The Rocks, NSW

New Restaurant – Estelle by Scott Pickett, Northcore, VIC

Caf of the Year – Domani’s Caf Restaurant Bar, Main Beach, QLD

Caterer of the Year – Customs House, Brisbane, QLD

George Mure Professional Development Award – Adelaide Oval Function & Events, Adelaide, SA

Best New Restaurant was awarded to Estelle by Scott Pickett, in Northcote, VIC, while Efendy in Balmain, NSW, was presented with the award for best Speciality Restaurant.

 “We’ve won the Sydney Speciality Restaurant award three years in a row; however this is the first time we’ve received the national award. After serving the people of Sydney every day, we’re so proud to have Turkish food recognised on a national level,” said Efendy owner and Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) member Somer Sivrioglu.
