Tasting Australia has revealed the results of the 2020 Spirit Awards.

The spirits were judged by an all-South Australian panel, with a record number of entrants submitted.

Ambleside Distillers took out the Gin and Best Distiller awards for their Small Acre gin and No. 8 Botanical gin.

Best Distillers runners up included:

  • Adelaide Hills Distillery, SA
  • Australian Distilling Co., SA
  • Cap & Bells, VIC
  • Granddad Jacks, QLD
  • Imperial Measures Distilling, SA
  • Joadja Distillery, NSW

Best Small Batch Spirit was awarded to Taylor and Smith Distilling Co’s dry gin from Tasmania.

Runners up included:

  • Eau De Vie, Seppeltsfield Rd Distillers, SA
  • LOBO Apple Brandy ‘Lobodos’, LOBO Juice and Cider, SA
  • Rochfort Muscat Cask, Rochfort Distillery, SA
  • Floral as Hell Gin, Blend Etiquette, SA
  • Sullivans Cove American Oak Tawny Single Cask, Sullivans Cove Distillery, TAS
  • Distillers Selection Single Cask 6YO Brandy (Lot 143), Bass and Flinders Distillery, VIC

The Craft & Co received the Best Independent Bottler award, with Bass and Flinders Distillery’s Distillers Selection Single Cask 6YO brandy named Best Small Cask Maturation.

Other awards included Alternate Spirit, won by Adelaide Hills Distillery; Liquer, secured by Ochre Nation’s Økar amaro; Vodka, taken out by Tin Shed Distilling Co.’s Requiem Rum ‘SS Ferret’ and Whisky, awarded to Sullivans Cove American Oak Tawny Single Cask, Sullivans Cove Distillery.
