Kings Cross venue The World Bar has announced they’re closing their doors permanently after 18 years in business.
The venue shared the news on social media and confirmed their last gig would be held on 28 November.
World Bar is best known for serving cocktails in teapots and hosting a diverse range of live music acts.
The area has suffered and struggled since lockout laws were introduced, with over 176 venues closing in less than five years including Soho, Hugo’s and Goldfish Bar.
“The obvious connection that people will make on our closure is the effect of the lock-out laws,” reads the Facebook post.
“It’s undeniable that they have had a huge impact on us, as well as Sydney’s live music scene. We need the authorities to show true leadership and to make positive decisions for the music and creative communities and for everyone who likes to be social at night!”
Nearly 1,000 comments have been left on the farewell post, with many Sydneysiders mourning the end of an era.
