Tapas style dishes are delivered on a moving train at the recently opened MediTrainean in Sydney’s Crows Nest.

With menu items available for dine-in or takeaway, MediTrainean offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes together with a selection of wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages.

Made fresh and on-site each day, menu items include traditional mezze dips and salads including the Casarecce, which includes crispy prosciutto, sweet pea, cherry tomatoes, basil, olives and shaved grana padano; and the Spiced Carrot with chickpeas, crumbled feta, sultanas, toasted almonds, mint, garlic, honey and dukkah.

Small plate selections include mussels spiced with caramelised onion, rice and lemon; stuffed zucchini with lamb and fresh herbs; tender lamb skewers finely minced with lemon, garlic and olive oil; and arancini with porcini mushrooms, herbs and provolone.

Meals can be enjoyed at the bar or tables alongside the moving train.

MediTrainean co-owner Ashley Rofe said “It occurred to me that serving this kind of food on a moving train would be a lot of fun and people would truly enjoy eating this way.

“We see ourselves as the ultimate in the quick service restaurant space as our food is such high quality and so flavorsome. It’s food that everybody loves and served in every way to make eating convenient no matter what you need or want – to dine in, have a quick meal or simply pick-up and run. This makes MediTrainean perfect for commuters, couples, singles, groups, families – basically everyone.”

MediTrainean, which opened earlier this month, is also available for functions with up to 100 guests.
