Westland Milk Products’ premium butter brand Westgold butter is living up to its name, bringing home gold medals for both salted and unsalted butters at the prestigious New Zealand Champions of Cheese Awards 2021.
This is the third consecutive year Westgold has won medals at these awards.
“This gold medal is a testament to everything we do here at Westland,’’ says Hamish Yates, Westland Milk Products general manager of marketing.
“This award recognises the hard work of so many people; from our farmer suppliers providing creamy delicious milk to our master butter makers and those who get Westgold to our customers and consumers.
The west coast of New Zealand’s South Island is one of the most unique dairy farming environments in the world and Westgold’s distinctive flavour, texture and colour is unique to this environment.
“The single source of our butter [is] from cows that have a diet made up of 95 per cent grass, [which] makes it highly distinctive,’’ says Yates. “This, together with our Fritz churn method and master butter makers, results in a recipe for sensational butter.
“We have always believed our butter is special, and once again, this expert recognition reinforces this.’’
