Whether you need your morning coffee, a mango smoothie on-the-go or pizza delivery, pre-ordering food can save the day (and a long wait in a queue) when you need it.
Order Up is making it easy to order food through Google Search and Google Maps. A new food ordering experience with Google allows customers searching on Google for a restaurant by name, or even searching terms like “pizza near me” or “Thai food in Sydney,” to discover restaurants and directly place an order in just a few clicks. Consumers are already loving the convenience of this.
Not only can these customers place a food order from within Google search results — they can also order directly from the restaurant within Google Maps, or place a voice order using the Google Assistant. A blue “Order Takeaway” button will show in Search and Maps when you search for a restaurant or type of cuisine. For participating restaurants, you can make your selections with just a few taps, view delivery or pickup times, and check out with Google Pay.
It’s all about making things as easy and quick as possible for the customers. Likewise, more visibility means more traffic. More traffic means more orders. All menus are integrated from your online ordering platform into Google Food Ordering to ensure all there is to worry about, from a retailer’s perspective is making orders. Orders are automatically sent directly to the POS.
John Saadie, founder of Hospotech company Order Up said, “We are always looking for innovative ways for the hospitality industry to reach new customers in a more convenient way. Google Search and Google Maps will make it so much easier for customers to find their favorite restaurants and even try something new.”
“In light of the current pandemic and the demand for contactless/digital ordering, this feature will further assist Order Up venues to attract and be more accessible to customers.”
A breakdown of how it works for consumers:
Find food and order faster
Now you can use Google Search, Maps or the Assistant to order food from Order Up. Look out for the “Order Takeaway” button in Search and Maps when you search for a restaurant or type of cuisine. Let the Google Assistant handle dinner
To use the Assistant on your phone to get your food fix, simply say, “Hey Google, order food from [restaurant].” You can also quickly reorder your go-to meal with some of our delivery partners by saying, “Hey Google, reorder food from [restaurant].” The Assistant pulls up your past orders, and in just a few seconds, you can select your usual dish.
