Silver Chef has signed on as a partner with not-for-profit organization StreetSmart with a target of raising $1 million via StreetSmart's annual DineSmart campaign.

The campaign will see restaurants both within and outside the Silver Chef network include a non-compulsory $2 donation item on bills for diners. StreetSmart will then distribute the funds throughout its 409 community partner organisations to support grassroots services and projects that provide support to homeless Australians.

“Our industry is filled with good people who would like to make a positive difference in the lives of others. The DineSmart program is such a simple yet extraordinarily powerful way that together we can make a very real change in the lives of the homeless citizens in our community," says StreetSmart partnership, Silver Chef Founder and Executive Chairman Allan English

“I’d encourage restaurant owners to join us by registering to get involved – reaching our fundraising target will mean so much for countless grassroots organisations.”

Established in 2003, StreetSmart Australia has raised over $3 million dollars since its inception.

StreetSmart Founder and CEO Adam Robinson says that the organisation is thrilled to have Silver Chef as a driving force behind the annual StreetSmart campaign.

“We are very excited to be teaming up with the team at Silver Chef to build our DineSmart fundraising event. Silver Chef is the perfect partner to help us reach more restaurants and ultimately support grassroots homeless services across Australia. Silver Chef works closely with the hospitality industry, as we have for 12 years, and together we want to strengthen our community response to homelessness.”

DineSmart will run from 9 November through to New Year’s Eve 2015.
