Founder of Melbourne’s Estelle restaurant, Scott Pickett has been named Restaurant & Catering Australia’s (R&CA) 2015 Young Achiever.

Former recipients of the award include Adam Swanson, Merivale’s Dan Hong, the Press Club’s George Calombaris and Vue de Monde’s Shannon Bennett.

When he’s officially presented with the award in Canberra on 1 March, Pickett will join Bill Galvin OAM, Carlo Tosolini, Philip Johnson, Peter Morelli, Don Cameron, and Hans Lang as part of R&CA’s Lifetime Achiever Program, acknowledging their achievements, efforts and dedication to Australia’s restaurant and catering industry.

R&CA’s CEO, John Hart, said “Scott has certainly been the one to watch on the Australian dining scene. From his time at London’s three Michelin star restaurant The Square to Melbourne’s three hat Ondine, Scott has carved out his own unique signature in Australia’s culinary scene.

“I’m excited to watch his empire grow as he continues to shape our industry with his ideas and cooking techniques.”

Pickett operates Estelle Bistro and Estelle by Scott Pickett, ESP, in Melbourne, and last year was named Chef of the Year by Time Out Melbourne. He’s also a judge of the prestigious Bocuse d’Or competition, which is held every two years and was founded in January 1987 by Paul Bocuse to bring together 24 young chefs to compete on a global stage.
