RivaReno Gelato has opened at Barangaroo and unveiled a new look for its original Darlinghurst store, featuring oak and Carrara marble. Both stores have state of the art gelato-making facilities, and counters that keep the gelato at the perfect temperature.

The brand was founded in Italy in 2002. In 2013, the founders partnered with Sydney-based Italian Kieran Tosolini and opened its first gelateria in Darlinghurst, Sydney.

RivaReno offers 26 gelatos and four granitas, using fresh ingredients including single origin Valrhona chocolate, caramelised pecans and ‘high altitude’ mascarpone, as well as pistachios, hazelnuts and almonds from Italy. Best-sellers include Pistachio Bronte; Cremino RivaReno (white chocolate and hazelnut ganache with layers of gianduia); and New York-New York (organic Canadian maple syrup with caramelised pecans).

There is also a range of seasonal sorbets made with 60 percent real fruit including lychee, kiwi, pear, apricot, white peach and banana.

All gelato is made on-site in small batches several times a day and stored in “pozzetti”, large stainless steel cylinders set deep inside the counter that preserve the gelato to ensure freshness. RivaReno Gelato contains no hydrogenated fat, preservatives, antioxidants or artificial colourings.

The RivaReno menu will soon expand to include crepes, waffles, bombolini (Italian doughnuts), Mecca coffee and Italian hot chocolate.

Tosolini said, “I am so thrilled to be expanding RivaReno Gelato to Sydney’s most exciting food hub, Barangaroo. The Australian market is so discerning when it comes to gelato, and we look forward to delighting even more customers with our authentic Italian flavours.”

RivaReno Darlinghurst is open Sunday–Thursday from 1pm to 11pm and Friday–Saturday 1pm to 12am. RivaReno Barangaroo’s caf is open seven days from 7am to 4pm, while the Gelateria and Affogato bar is 12pm to 9pm.
