Seventy members of parliament and staff will attend an event held by Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) at Parliament House to recognise the achievements of these hard-working operators and the economic benefit they bring to the nation. Colin Fassnidge spoke at the event about his successful career in hospitality, his challenges and his pathway through a traditional apprenticeship to multi-business operator.
The Lifetime Achiever award is bestowed upon restaurateurs who have contributed to the sector through mentoring others, supporting the industry and operating successful businesses over an extended period. The Young Achiever is awarded to an operator under 30-years-old who is demonstrating best practice in operations and leadership in the highly competitive hospitality sector.

• Tony Percuoco, Ristorante Tartufo, Queensland
• Vic Ventura, Fasta Pasta and others, South Australia
• Teresa Bruno, Zia Teresa, Victoria
• Stephen Scaffidi, Treasury State Buildings, Western Australia.
2019 Young Achiever is
• Abhi Mahadevan, Abhi’s Restaurant, New South Wales.
“With more than a century in combined experience in the hospitality industry, these professionals’ experience and knowledge will contribute to the economic and social fabric of our industry’s future,” R&CA president Con Castrisos OAM says.
R&CA CEO Juliana Payne added: “We heartily congratulate these people on their significant achievement and expect that their careers will be aspirational for other operators in the industry.”
