The winners of the 2018 Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) and Royal Queensland Wine Show (RQWS) Wine List Awards have been announced, recognising the state’s best wine offerings.

Ochre Restaurant in Cairns and Blackbird Bar & Restaurant in Brisbane dominated in the awards, both sharing in the major award categories.

Ochre Restaurant also won the awards for Best Overall Wine List Featuring Queensland Wines as well as the Best Regional Wine List Featuring Queensland Wines. Blackbird Bar & Restaurant also took out the award for Best Metropolitan Wine List Featuring Queensland Wines.

The Balfour Kitchen in New Farm was awarded an honourable mention in the Small Bars Wine List category.

R&CA CEO Juliana Payne congratulated this year’s winners.

“Each of the businesses recognised in today’s Awards can each lay their claim as to having some of the best wine offerings in all of Queensland,” she says.

“The popularity of locally-produced wines has increased in recent years and it isn’t difficult to see why with all the fabulous wines on offer in addition each of the food menu items. I’d greatly urge all wine connoisseurs to visit these businesses for a wine-tasting experience as good as any vineyard.”
