The 2021 Pub Leaders Summit continues to gather steam, with new speakers added to the program.
After an incredibly tough year with ever-changing limitations, venue operators are hoping that 2021 brings with it a steady, upward trajectory for trade as we place hope in shorter, localised lockdowns and the promise of vaccines to combat the current pandemic.
With that positivity in mind, the Pub Leaders Summit is preparing for one its most important events ever on Monday 22 March, in bringing industry colleagues together at such a trying time to collaborate and inspire one another in ways to get their venues back on track.
Venue owners and operators are evidently feeling the same way. Tickets for the event have been selling well since mid-December and several new speakers have jumped on board to take part in the day’s program.
One such speaker is David Thompson of Tilley & Wills Hotels (Verandah Bar, Greenwood Hotel, Clovelly Hotel, The Balmain Hotel, Buena Hotel). Thompson is excited to be joining the conference to discuss how his venues responded to the pandemic last year, and how it will be tackling the year ahead.
“I see it as opportunity to not only share my experiences with my fellow publicans but also learn from their experiences.”
Other new speakers include Debbie Higgins (Merivale), Rose Kentish (Sparkke Beverage Company) and Jen Russell (W. Short Hospitality). The expo has also added another exhibitor with Spark Breweries & Distilleries to showcase their in-venue brewing options.

It has never been more vital for the industry to come together and share ideas on how to bolster its opportunities when faced with some of the toughest limitations it has ever experienced.
“This year, more so than ever, I feel it is important that we can discuss the hurdles we have faced in an open and honest format. We are a highly regulated industry and in some cases unfairly punished for things outside of our control. I feel there is no better place to learn than with the collective minds of the leaders of the hospitality industry,” suggests Thompson.
