The Philter Public Bar launched in Marrickville, Sydney, on 21 August with the brewery doors now open to the public.

Located in the heart of the Inner West Brewery Trail, the brewery pays homage to Philter’s beginnings in a Marrickville backyard.

‘This is our home. It’s where the heart of the brand has always been, and now where the bricks and mortar can showcase a great immersive encounter with Philter,” says Michael Neil, Managing Director and co-founder. “Our plans are to offer an all encompassing experience, with a food offer and a tidy wine list.”

The Public Bar overlooks Philter’s new brewery, with both areas connected by a deck that allows guests to view the brewery in action while enjoying a fresh beer.

‘The bar overlooks a real, working craft brewery,” says Head Brewer and co-founder, Sam Füss. “We’ll be pumping out over a million litres of beer a year so people will really be watching a lot of the activity. There’s something really awesome about that. We’ve already brewed our first limited edition and it’ll be available at the bar when we launch — a hoppy dark ale appropriately called Marrickville Nights.”

The easy drinking brew packed with Cascade, Galaxy, Enigma and Ella hops is the first produced at the new site.

The space blends a 2020 fit-out with the building’s mid-60’s design and 80s Australiana. Hand-painted signage and handmade tiles as well as a bar top re-homed from local pub undergoing renovations, combine to bring a touch of suburban pub nostalgia.

‘We really wanted to create a warm space within the brewery,” says Sales and Marketing Director and co-founder Stef Constantoulas. “It’s our house of worship — somewhere for punters to come and have a unique brand experience.”

Philter Public Bar is open Wednesday and Thursday 5pm–9pm. Reservations can also be made for Friday and Saturday 12pm-10pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm.
