Sydney’s Parlour Group has sold Surly’s to The Darlin Group.

A statement on Parlour’s website says, “We’re glad to be leaving it in such capable hands and the Surly’s crew will still be there to greet you and serve up the best American goods you can dream of.”

Surly’s will join The Darlin Group’s suite of existing bars and pubs, which include Surry Hills’ Lil Darlin’, Broadway Crown and Crows Nest’s Stoned Crow.

The American tavern opened in Surry Hills in 2015. Brody Petersen, who’s had skin in Sydney’s hospitality game for over a decade, later consolidated the venue under the Parlour Group banner alongside Riley St Garage and The Village Inn before launching Stanton & Co. in 2017.

Petersen told Good Food he and his team would now focus on the group’s remaining businesses.

In the past, Petersen has spoken about his cautious approach to expansion and, earlier this year, told Hospitality the group’s main focus in 2019 would be on upskilling staff rather than launching new venues.
