A new lounge and bar has opened its doors under the Hoyt’s cinema in Sydney’s South.
Papa Js is the latest venue from Jensens Group, which also operates Kareela, Summer Salt and Jensens restaurant.
Carl Jensen, who co-owns the venue and is also the executive chef, says the Cronulla concept has been inspired by the “glamour of a bygone era”.
The cocktail bar/lounge is offering a menu that encompasses a range of dishes from small bites to larger plates by Head Chef Jon Berry.

Dishes cover pan-fried king prawns with miso butter; Wagyu sirloin with chimmichurri; a generous cheese selection including burrata with jamon, truffle honey and sourdough plus a buffalo chicken toasted sandwich.
On the drinks front, Papa Js has dedicated martini and margarita menus, classic cocktails, beers and local and global wines.
“My passion lies in the bar and curating killer drinks such as the Alchemist and the Great Australian Bight,” says Bar Manager Josh Metcalfe.
