Melbourne is gearing up to welcome a new taphouse on the corner of Little Bourke Street and Amphlett Lane.
Ovolo Beverage Director Andrea Gualdi (former Maybe Sammy) and Creative Culinary Director Ian Curley (Kirk’s) are spearheading the venue, which is slated to open its doors in late October near the group’s Laneways hotel.
The 120-seat venue will see a varied approach to drinks on tap (cocktails, beer, wine) teamed with classic pub fare.
“My background has been completely focused on cocktail bars, so I am thrilled with this unique opportunity,” says Gualdi.
“Our aim is to bring the same level of quality you’d find in Australia’s best bars to the drinks offering at Amphlett House.
“We are lucky to have access to some incredibly progressive Australian and international producers, both in the alcoholic and non-alcoholic categories.”
Curley will work alongside Head Chef Ben Green on the menu, which will hero Victorian produce executed using classic techniques.
“[I] am looking forward to serving up humble fare with big flavours in the Paris end of town,” says Curley.
“There is nothing pretentious happening here – we welcome you to share a meal with family and friends or grab a quick bite with your better half.”
The taphouse has been designed by Luchetti Krelle with the 80s in mind in a nod to the building’s history.
Official opening date to come.
