Odd Culture Group has revealed it has sold its first and only Melbourne venue Odd Culture Fitzroy.

The wine bar and restaurant has been sold to Melbourne hospitality figure Gerry Nass, who has also been general manager and a 50 per cent owner of the venue since its launch in July 2023.

Nass will continue to operate the space but under the new name Good Liquor and Wine, with the first day of operation to be Monday 6 May.

“Over the last year, the team and I have developed really close relationships with our patrons and we are excited to take the business into its new iteration,” says Nass.

“All staff members will be staying on in their roles as the business changes hands.”

Odd Culture Group CEO James Thorpe says the move comes from a desire to focus on the group’s existing Sydney venues and plans for expansion across the city.

“Between our plans to double our footprint in Sydney, and Gerry’s incredible investment and connection with the Fitzroy venue, this became an obvious, albeit difficult, decision for us to take,” says Thorpe.

“We need to keep our focus on this side of the border to deliver the incredible projects we have planned over the next year.”

Odd Culture Fitzroy opened in July 2023, and was the group’s first Melbourne venue following its Sydney portfolio of Odd Culture Newtown, The Old Fitzroy Hotel, The Duke of Enmore, SPON wine and bottle shop, and Pleasure Club.
