Premier Gladys Berejiklian has confirmed venues in New South Wales will be able to revert back to the 2sqm rule from Friday 12 February.
The good news comes after New South Wales recorded 24 days without community transmission on Wednesday.
“Hospitality venues, functions, events will be able to go back to the 2 square metre rule both indoors and outdoors from Friday,” said Premier Berejiklian.
From 12:01am Friday, venues will be able to seat more customers for the first time since December.
Hospitality workers will also no longer be required to wear face masks while working.
“Hospitality workers … won’t need to mandatorily wear a mask, but we do … strongly recommend that especially in an indoor setting, where you can’t guarantee social distancing, you should be wearing a mask, especially if you are a vulnerable person,” said Ms Berejiklian.
