A New Shanghai venue with a twist is set to open its doors on Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD.

The restaurant is slated to launch in late March and will revolve around the concept’s signature dim sum, buns and noodles alongside a Chinese tapas-style menu and extensive cocktail list.

Owner John Chen says the 300-seat venue will combine New Shanghai’s most-loved elements with a “modern twist worthy of the CBD”.

“This will be a dining destination that has something for everyone, from business lunches and family dinners to after work drinks or cocktail hour with friends,” he says.

The menu will have a whopping 200 dishes to choose from, with everything from grilled skewers to hot pot, xiao long bao and pan-fried buns available.

On the booze front, local beers and wines will take pride of place alongside an extensive cocktail offering.

New Shanghai will open daily from 11am until 11pm.
