Damon Bradley, a new dessert destination for sweet-tooth Melbournites has opened this week at Melbourne’s Southgate.

The dessert bar boasts a generous 20 page menu offering desserts paired with wines and stickies. Examples include: slow roasted pears and white chocolate cheesecake paired with Noble Riesling; and peanut butter crepes paired with orange Muscat & flora. Desserts by the glass, waffles, crepes, stewed fruits, fondues and sharing plates will also be available with matched wines.

Drinks wise, a number of different flavoured milkshakes, ice cream sodas, iced drinks, Belgium covertures and dessert martinis along with tea and coffee will be on offer.

High tea will also be available complete with rose tea, scones and raspberry lamingtons.

Owner Eileen Galea said that the name of the venue came about during a trip abroad when she stumbled across a journal in an old bookcase at a cottage in Devon.

“As I sat in the breakfast nook exploring the gilt-edged pages, I found a scrapbook of papers torn from notebooks, restaurant menus and theatre programmes with envelopes postmarked in cities around the world,” says Galea. “The letters were from a man named Damon Bradley who told of his love of travel, Frank Sinatra and most of all his love of dessert. It was captivating.”

T Projects and Round Peg Design fitted out the new venue which features violet doors, washed oak flooring, decorate mouldings on the wall, suspended pendants and Carrara marble bench tops.

The venue can accommodate 60-70 patrons with high tea banquet seating and indoor and outdoor caf style dining.
