Now in its fourth year, the Ora King Awards are back in 2016, with a new category specifically targeting Australian chefs.
The new Best Ora King Dish Australia category joins the program’s other awards:
- Best Ora King Ambassador New Zealand
- Best Ora King Ambassador International
- Best Ora King Dish New Zealand
- Best Ora King Dish Australia
- Best Ora King Dish USA
The awards recognise the efforts of chefs working with Ora King, The New Zealand King Salmon Co’s foodservice brand, produced exclusively for fine dining restaurants.
The Ambassador awards are decided solely by Ora King’s global team, while chefs are required to enter the Best Dish categories online, with final judging being conducted by a panel of industry experts.
During the entry period, diners in Australia can nominate their favourite Ora King dish via social media. Public nominations can be made via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram by uploading an image of the Ora King dish with the hashtag #OraKingAwards and including the name of the dish, the chef and the restaurant.
Entries are open until 31 July with judging commencing on 1 August.
The Australian semi-finalist dishes will be tasted and judged according to the following criteria:
- Dish composition
- Taste
- Execution and technique
- X Factor
The three Australian Best Dish finalists win an all-expenses paid trip to New Zealand, joining chefs from the USA and around New Zealand on a bespoke culinary program.
Finalists will be announced on Monday 19 September and the overall winners are announced at the Ora King Awards ceremony and luncheon on 11 October.
