Hello Gorgeous is the latest bar to set up shop in Newstead, Brisbane. The new venue, situated in the Old Chester Street Bakery, is expected to open it’s doors in late January.

Owned by Justinn De Beer, Hello Gorgeous is Newstead’s latest multi-level bar. De Beer says Hello Gorgeous is there “for everyone to just relax, enjoy great food and wine, and have fun.”

Head Chef Matthew Wrench is  bringing his experience from the sky and the sea (Eleven Rooftop Bar and Macleay Island respectively) to the streets of Newstead. Diners can expect bold flavours with menu sections including raw, from the garden, fish and crustacean, meat, share boards, and sweets.

Highlights include salads like pan-seared cuttlefish with pomegranate, cherry tomato, watercress, and a chilli and lime emulsion, and sesame-crusted tuna sliders with semi-dehydrated heirloom tomato, seaweed remoulade, and watercress, which pair well with any of the bar’s 10 sparkling wine options.

More substantial  include Milly Hill lamb cutlets with harissa, Hasselback potato, pumpkin purée, caramelised shallot, mint oil and jus, with sides such as roasted bone marrow with sourdough crisps.

Interiors by stylist Bea Berry create an air of luxe sophistication with curved arches and teal banquettes, a bar clad in pastel pink tiling, and gold accents. Out the front, a sun-soaked deck featuring tropical plants and bar tables welcomes visitors.

More than 40 wines will be on offer as well as sparkling and Champagne, while cocktails will rotate seasonally. Hello Gorgeous will also offer a range of low-alcohol cocktails.

The new venue has a private dining room to accommodate up to 20, or a function space with room for 80.

Open Monday–Friday from 4pm, and from midday on weekends, Hello Gorgeous’ kitchen will be open until 10pm daily.
