Melbourne restaurant Morris Jones has reopened after extensive renovations, boasting a fresh look and food offering.
Owner Hayden Burbank says the new-look restaurant reflects California’s playful yet sophisticated dining scene.
“We have enjoyed every part of the journey, but we wouldn’t be Morris Jones if we didn’t continue to innovate, elevate and keep it fresh,” he says.
Devised by head chef Matthew Butcher, the menu combines Japanese and Southern Californian cuisine and features a selection of sushi, dumplings and mains.
Dishes include crab and uni nachos with chipotle queso dashi chips, sweet braised short rib with kelp caramel mustard seed salsa and miso salmon with gooseberry, ginger and dill sauce.
The venue also includes three bar areas: a central bar and sushi station, an open-air courtyard service bar and a third concealed “attic” bar, which will launch later this year.
A new selection of drinks features Japanese beers on tap, wines curated by owner Hayden Burbank, a selection of tequilas, mezcals and sakes and cocktails.
