One of the country’s top breweries is gearing up to open its biggest venue yet, with Moon Dog set to launch Wild West in Footscray this March.

The Western-inspired site is double the size of Moon Dog World in Preston, with the team transforming the Franco Cozzo building into an 800-capacity beer destination.

“We’re so excited to join the vibrant Footscray community in such an iconic location; the support has been overwhelming and we can’t wait to finally throw open the doors and welcome everyone in for a cold beer,” says Karl van Buuren, Moon Dog co-founder.

Moon Dog Wild West covers three levels including a ground floor bar with a bucking bull, barrel-ageing room/private dining space, an arcade, and booths while the Honky Tonk bar sits on level one, which sees a stage for live music, jukebox, outpost lounge, and secret bar Pianola.

The rooftop is home to the Watering Hole cocktail bar and Prickly Pete’s Cantina, with the space offering city views and a plethora of tacos.

“With a venue of this size, we knew we could achieve something that hasn’t been seen before and really go bigger than we ever have,” says Joshua Uljans, CEO & co-founder.

“We’re hoping to create somewhere for people to enjoy the outrageousness of it all!”

There are more than 100 taps across the venue, with drinks focused on house beers and seltzers as well as wine, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options.

Guests can expect an American-themed food offering including BBQ and Tex Mex fare as well as classic pub meals such as burgers and parmas.

Moon Dog Wild West is slated to open in early March, with the team opening additional locations in Marvel Stadium Concourse and Frankston later this year.
