Hospitality group Merivale is fast expanding across New South Wales, acquiring its first venue in the coastal town of Byron Bay.
The group has purchased Cheeky Monkey’s Bar at 115 Johnson Street, which was owned by Red Rock Leisure.
Along with the bar, Merivale has also secured an adjoining massage spa.
“I’ve been going to Byron since I was 10 years old, so it has always been a place close to my heart,” says CEO Justin Hemmes.
“I can’t wait to open our first venue on the North Coast and spend more time in the area. There’s simply no place like it.”
Merivale will receive the keys on 28 May and commence a renovation of the space, which will open as a restaurant and bar later in the year.
The bar joins Merivale’s portfolio which now includes more than 80 venues including two recent additions in Victoria, the Quarterdeck in Narooma and Norton’s Irish Pub in Sydney’s Inner West.
