Merivale is gearing up to open the doors to its latest Sydney venue on 24 April.

Good Luck Restaurant Lounge is fronted by Executive Chef Mike Eggert and is located in a basement space in the iconic Burns Philp & Co building on Bridge Street.

The restaurant is inspired by Eggert’s 2017 pop-up restaurant Good Luck Pinbone, with the chef developing the concept alongside Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes for the past three years.

Guests can expect an experiential dining space that has been filled out with live fish tanks, a bar, two wine wine rooms, and private and semi-private dining rooms.

Eggert has recruited fellow Merivale chef Prince Jeganathan from Mr Wong to head up the kitchen, with debut dishes now confirmed.

Highlights include fish and prawn sausage with lime and cucumber; smoked soy-poached chicken in shiso dressing; and fire-roasted prawns in tomato miso with chicken skin and cereal crunch.

Cocktails are courtesy of Group Creative Cocktail Lead James Irvine, who has created a riff on a spicy marg named the Laat Jam as well as the Good Luck Colada, which highlights cardamom.

Sommelier Jacqueline Doucette of Geranium fame has taken an inclusive approach to the wine list, selecting “something for everyone”, with drops from South Africa, Australia, and the Loire all making an appearance.

Bookings for Good Luck Restaurant Lounge go live on 5 April. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday from the 24th.
