The World’s 50 Best Bars have revealed its extended 51-100 list to see Luke Whearty and Aki Nishikura’s Byrdi place at number 61.

Opening in Melbourne in 2019, it’s the third time Byrdi has made the list coming in at an impressive 80 in 2020, and 56 in 2021.

Byrdi is the only Australian venue to make the extended list for 2023.

The announcement comes in the lead up to the World’s 50 Best Bars live awards ceremony taking place on 17 October in Singapore.

2023 marks the 15th year of the awards, and it’s the first time the ceremony will be held outside of Europe.

The 2023 extended list includes 14 new entries, including Albania’s first ever entry with Nouvelle Vague from Tirana.

There are 14 bars on the list from across Asia including five from Singapore, plus six bars from the US, and five from the UK.

The annual list is judged by 680 independent drinks specialists, including bartenders, drinks writers, educators, and consultants.
