The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival will celebrate its 30th birthday with a gala dinner, 30 Under 30, which will be hosted by 30 of Victoria’s best chefs under 30 years of age.

Celebrations will commence on 1-17 August with a series of one-off events that will be held across the city.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 30th anniversary by shining a light on 30 of Victoria’s most promising young chefs,” says CEO of Food + Drink Victoria, Anthea Loucas Bosha.

“Melbourne is the capital of creativity and innovation in Australia, and our restaurants, bars, cafés, bakeries and patisseries are an inspiration for travellers and locals, professionals and diners alike. We have the most dynamic young talent in the world, and we can’t wait to put them front and centre at 30 Under 30.”

The dinner will kick off the event on 28 July in the Regent Theatre’s Plaza Ballroom and gather up-and-coming talent from restaurants such as Attica, Vue de Monde, Gimlet, Igni, Aru and Provenance who will cook 30 dishes.

Later, guests will have the chance to hear from the 30 chefs, who will also cook lunch and dinner in smaller events that at will be held in eateries such as Matilda 159, Cutler & Co, Embla, Society and Stokehouse.

Diners will be able to join Elijah Chen, Zack Furst, Mitch Haag, Bianca Johnston, Javier Ortiz, and Joane Yeoh for a six-course lunch ($135) on 2 August at Matilda 159, and later be seated for dinner at Cutler & Co with Audrey Allard, James Grant, Hannah Holleran, Rosheen Kaul and Niko Pasieka for a five-course dinner ($120).

On 3 August at Embla, Pieter Buijsse, Giorgia McAllister Forte, Anthony Nguyen, Harvey Noy, Nagesh Seethiah and Anthony Tran will serve lunch for six courses and a welcome drink ($140).

Over at Society Hannah Cox, Carina La Delfa, Roc Lee, HyoJu Park, Kimberly Tang and Hannah Watt will host dinner on 10 August with six courses and a martini on arrival ($178).

Celebrations will finish off on 17 August with a five-course dinner and drink ($145) at Stokehouse with Hugh Allen, Ellie Bouhadana, Anneliese Brancatisano, Vyvyan Huynh and Cam Tay Yap.
