Sydney bar Maybe Sammy has scooped up the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award from the World’s 50 Best Bars 2020.

The award was determined by 540 members of the World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, with experts asked to name an institution where they received the best hospitality experience.

Located in The Rocks, Maybe Sammy opened in 2019 to much fanfare, with the bar quickly securing a number of international and local awards.

Led by Stefano Catino, Vince Lombardo, Martin Hudak and Andrea Gualdi, the bar is known for its Hollywood-esque atmosphere and inventive cocktails.

“For Maybe Sammy, hospitality isn’t just a word – it’s what we take pleasure in providing to every person who enters the bar, and we are so lucky to have a team that loves interacting with people,” says co-owner Catino.

“This has been a challenging year for the bar industry, but our focus has remained on taking care of our guests and delivering them an experience that delights and exceeds expectations.”

The bar has also kicked off The Mini Martini Hour every day from 4:30-5:30pm.

There are seven martinis available for $5.50 a pop including the Mini Frank (Campari, Calle 23 tequila blanco, mezcal Vida, Montenegro, dry vermouth); Mini Negroni (Tanqueray gin, Campari, Oscar 697 vermouth rosso) and the Mini Ava (Aperol, Ketel One vodka, rhubarb, orange Curaçao).
